Nestled in the historic town of Ballinger, Texas, The Olde Park Hotel is more than just a building—it’s a living relic of the Old West. Built in the late 1800s and once serving as a brothel, boarding house, funeral parlor, music store, schoolhouse, and more. This legendary hotel has witnessed the wildest days of Texas frontier history.
With a change of ownership in 2025, Chad and Leslie Wandel have begun to restore and preserve this historic building with plans to revitalize and expand the historical aspect of the hotel, along with creating one of the leading locations for paranormal research. From eerie apparitions to disembodied voices, ghostly tales are part of everyday life here – and you’re invited to experience them firsthand.
Chad and Leslie are founders of the Ghost Geeks, a paranormal research team composed of Data Scientists, Medical Professionals and Historians. Chad and Leslie have started the Runnels County Headstone Preservation Charity and are working on getting funding for cemetery restoration in Ballinger and beyond. The mission statement behind the work of Chad and Leslie is to preserve and document the history of Ballinger through curating museum exhibits inside the hotel while also keeping the hotel as a living exhibit to its history and the spirits that still reside here.

From bordello inspired decor to classic 1920 music parlors this hotel has something for everyone to be fully immersed in its history and charm.

Is the hotel really haunted?
Yes, very haunted in fact. A decade of guests, along with numerous paranormal research teams have investigated the hotel. The amount of paranormal evidence captured here is almost overwhelming. From full body apparitions and disembodied voices to phantom touches and even objects moving on their own, the Olde Park Hotel has given its guests many unforgettable experiences.
Can I book the entire hotel for a private event?
Yes! Private bookings for paranormal groups and special events are welcome. Please contact us through our Event Booking page for details.
What themed rooms are available for overnight stays?
We offer a variety of rooms with historical and ghostly significance, including Ginny’s Honeysuckle Suite, Chrisce’s French Bordello, and Anne’s Theater.
Are children allowed at the hotel?
Due to the nature of paranormal activity, we do not recommend overnight investigations for anyone under the age of 16. While there are exceptions to this recommendation, children younger than this age tend to find some of our ghostly encounters too intense. However, our day time tours and learn to ghost hunt workshops tend to be a great start to overcoming the intensity of a full overnight investigation, contact us for more details.
What is included in an overnight paranormal investigation?
Guests have full access to the entire hotel to explore and investigate. Immerse yourself in our state of the art command center where you can monitor all the buildings cameras and sensors while taking advantage of ample power stations for charging your gear, a TV for your own needs, and the ability to download any of our camera footage for your investigation. The Olde Park Hotel offers high speed internet throughout the building allowing for easy live streaming, uploads, and access to our video library.
Do I need to bring my own ghost hunting tools?
Bringing your own ghost hunting gear is recommended as everyone has their favorite piece of equipment. However, the Olde Park Hotel offers rental equipment for the complete novice. This is a great way to use many of the tools seen on TV before deciding to purchase your own. Don’t forget, our Patreon subscribers get free equipment rentals!
Is there a gift shop or museum on-site?
Yes! We have a gift shop with great souvenirs, paranormal books, and paranormal equipment. The Olde Park Hotel is a museum in and of itself, as we renovate the building each phase will focus on restoring the history of the building, the town and the lives that lived…and died here.
What themed rooms are available for overnight stays?(change this to….) What are the accommodations for overnight bookings? While each room in the Olde Park Hotel is considered a museum exhibit, guests are allowed to use the beds for overnight stays. However, since we are not a working hotel, linens are not provided for use in the rooms,
so we encourage guests to bring their own blankets or sleeping bags to use.
Can I tour the hotel without staying overnight?
Yes, we offer tours by appointment. Contact us to schedule a historical or paranormal walk-through.
